Add this to ur Codex config, makes it so that Codex will use the multiple choice tool outside plan mode.
Makes it feel 100x better

Explanation
What it says Ben Davis recommends adding this to Codex’s TOML config:
```toml [features] default_mode_request_user_input = true ```
He says it lets Codex use its multiple-choice/user-input tool even when it is not in Plan mode, which makes interactive coding sessions feel much better.
Context Normally, Codex may proceed autonomously outside Plan mode rather than stopping to ask a structured clarification. This feature flag appears intended to make “ask the user” behavior available by default, so the agent can present explicit choices when requirements are ambiguous instead of guessing.
The post gives no version number, documentation link, or indication whether the flag is stable, experimental, or still supported.
Why it matters For agentic coding, this changes a meaningful failure mode: instead of silently choosing among plausible implementations, Codex can interrupt at decision points and ask you to select an option. That is especially useful for architecture, destructive changes, ambiguous requirements, or preferences that cannot be inferred from the repo.
Images The screenshot confirms the exact config section and key: `[features]` plus `default_mode_request_user_input = true`.
